He has always been committed to social improvement – first as a political activist and student representative in high school, managing volunteer associations (environmental and cultural), as a manager (for publishing and cultural promotion) and then as an entrepreneur (in the early ‘90s, for a “green economy” firm, in strong continuity with his environmental commitment).

In collaboration with Titti Carta (the main Italian expert on artistic craft), he has worked on the entrepreneurial promotion of this sector between the 80’s and early 90’s as director of the company “L’Arte del Quotidiano”, of the magazine “Artigianato tra Arte e Design”and of the project “La Seduzione degli Oggetti -Annuario dell’artigiano italiano” (B. Mondadori ed. 1996).

In 1997, he founded “ASVI – Agency for the Development of the Nonprofit(which became Social Change School in 2016), introduced e-learning for Nonprofit in Europe (in 1998-1999 the first Masters in Management and Fundraising with a “blended formula”, the first books of Nonprofit Management).

From 2004 to 2008 he collaborated with Symbola Foudation  for Italian Quality, with Ermete Realacci (Founder of Legambiente), Domenico De Masi (work sociologist) and Alessandro Profumo (President of Unicredit).
He coordinated the “Observatory for Professions and Work in the Nonprofit” (2003-2008 – with the Ministry of Labour, Alma Laurea, Third Sector Forum, trade unions, and other representatives), becoming the main point of reference for Italian media on topics concerning the work in the Third Sector.

At an international level, during his period in London, he co-founded Euclid Network – Association of European Nonprofit Managers (2006), Leader2Leader the Network of Italian Nonprofit Managers (2008- 2010), I-SIN- Italian Social Innovation Network (2011), and Social Change School, based in Madrid.
For the School he currently has a significant focus in the professional development of the Nonprofit sector in English-speaking Africa.

As a journalist, in the ‘90s, he was committed to the diffusion of the Italian artistic craft and, since 2010, to the promotion of the role of the Third Sector and Social Innovation.
His Blogs on Third Sector and Social Innovation on Huffington Post and Il Fatto Quotidiano are even appreciated by a non-specialized public.

Since 1998 he has been the author of many books of the sector:
