From April 21st to the 23rd, students of HOPE- Master In Humanitarian Operations in Emergencies Managing Projects, People, Administration & Logistic in the field, participated to the Workshop on “Humanitarian Finance and Logistics, and Communication in Emergency”, that took place in Rome, at the Polo Didattico, and lead by experts in these fields.
The Workshop started with the lesson on the Role of Logistics in a Humanitarian Intervention, held by Kostas Moschochoritis, General Secretary at INTERSOS, and one of our Social Change Leaders, whose interview you can be found in the Social Change School’s Blog4Change.
The same day, HOPE students had the chance to understand and get in touch with the Administrative and Financial procedures in humanitarian programs. Lodovico Mariani, Finance and Administrator Director at Amref Health Africa Italy and Master HOPE Director, was the lecturer of that class. Mariani’s lesson continued during the whole day of Saturday, when he provided practical examples and implemented dynamics so that the students had the possibility to apply and plan a Gantt Chart and budget structure for a specific project.
Finally, on Sunday, Filippo Ungaro, Communication Manager at Save the Children Italy and the new Master FRAME Director, held the Communication in Emergency lecture. It has been a very interesting class where the students had the chance to get in touch with the main tools and understand the importance of the communication in emergency.
The Workshop has successfully presented and put into practice some of the main tools that will, for sure, facilitate the professional development of future agents in the humanitarian sector.
