PROJECT AND PROGRAM MANAGEMENT FOR EMERGENCIES\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0for\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.socialchangeschool.org\/en\/master\/master-in-humanitarian-operations-in-emergencies-managing-projects-people-administration-logistic-in-the-field\/\">Master\u00a0HOPE \u2013 in Humanitarian Operations in Emergencies, Managing Projects, People Administration &amp; Logistic in the Field<\/a><\/strong>, \u00a0June 2017 Edition, was held in Rome, at the Polo Didattico, and it was led by Silva Ferretti, Independent Consultant, Humanitarian and Development Professional<\/p>\n<p>The first day was dedicated to an initial approach to \u201c<strong>Project and Program Management<\/strong>\u201d, through a set of exercises on concepts \u2013 such as project cycle,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.socialchangeschool.org\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/10\/^6D542E4A39FB322CA234F62C5679BCE4B9B6C2910ABC578D67^pimgpsh_fullsize_distr.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-32191 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.socialchangeschool.org\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/10\/^6D542E4A39FB322CA234F62C5679BCE4B9B6C2910ABC578D67^pimgpsh_fullsize_distr-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"^6D542E4A39FB322CA234F62C5679BCE4B9B6C2910ABC578D67^pimgpsh_fullsize_distr\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>\u00a0adaptive management,\u00a0disaster risk management, stakeholders\u2019 analysis, etc \u2013 \u00a0and a personal critical reflection on the fellow\u2019s own competences. A second moment\u00a0was dedicated to a first contact with\u00a0<strong>Project Cycle Management<\/strong>, focusing on the\u00a0<strong>Logframe\u00a0<\/strong>and the\u00a0<strong>Theory of Change<\/strong>, of the advantages and weaknesses of each and how they interact. By the end of the day, divided into groups, representing different kinds of organizations, the fellows had to<strong>\u00a0assess the situation of the Nepal earthquake and address the activities (what to do), the approaches processes (how to work) and the stakeholders (with whom).\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-30241 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.socialchangeschool.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/10\/BeFunky-Collage1-1024x841.jpg\" alt=\"HOPE roma\" width=\"430\" height=\"353\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.socialchangeschool.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/BeFunky-Collage1-1024x841.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.socialchangeschool.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/BeFunky-Collage1-300x246.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.socialchangeschool.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/BeFunky-Collage1-768x630.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.socialchangeschool.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/BeFunky-Collage1.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 430px) 100vw, 430px\" \/>On the second day, the fellows worked on the development of their own organization\u2019s projects, based on the Nepalese situation. A first moment was dedicated to\u00a0<strong>talking with a donor<\/strong>\u00a0who gave the fellows an assessment of the needs in the project cycle. The rest of the day was dedicated to identifying different actors within a humanitarian operation, and an in-depth work on the Logframe and Theory of Change, focusing on concepts such as\u00a0<strong>\u2018accountability\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>\u2018participation\u2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">On Sunday, after a first moment of\u00a0<strong>Question &amp; Answers<\/strong>\u00a0with the lecturer, the session was dedicated to\u00a0<strong>assumptions and risk analysis<\/strong>. In the second part of the day, the fellows focused on trying to bring together the main ideas of the different organizations, to create a consortium, in which they had to emphasise the concept of\u00a0<strong>resilience<\/strong>, central to their project \u2013 as\u00a0<strong>the power to face disaster\/threats<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The objective achieved in this series of workshops was to\u00a0<strong>understand what project and program management involve for humanitarian programs<\/strong>, as well as the\u00a0<strong>capacity to compare different approaches to project\/program management<\/strong>, through a\u00a0<strong>practical use of concepts and tools<\/strong>\u00a0in simulations and exercises.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">By\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.socialchangeschool.org\/en\/faculty\/susana-ferreira\/\">Susana Ferreira<\/a>, Master HOPE Coordinator and Career Development Officer<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Between the 20th\u00a0and the 22nd\u00a0of October, the cycle of workshops on \u201cDISASTER MANAGEMENT.
