The students of\u00a0HOPE \u2013 Master In Humanitarian Operations in Emergencies Managing Projects, People, Administration & Logistic in the field<\/a>,<\/strong>\u00a0of the Edition started in June 2017, took part at their first workshop \u201cSCENARIO –<\/strong>\u00a0PARADIGMS, LEGAL FRAMEWORK, STRATEGIC PERSPECTIVES<\/strong>\u201d held on the 8th<\/sup>, 9th<\/sup>\u00a0and 10th<\/sup>\u00a0of July at the Polo Didattico in Rome.<\/p>\n

On the first day, the students were introduced to the\u00a0Career Development<\/a><\/strong>, meeting\u00a0Silvia Fontana<\/strong>,<\/a>\u00a0the Head of Career Development Unit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The workshop was lead by professionals from the field of Humanitarian Emergencies, which gave the students the first tools and insights over the sector.<\/p>\n

The first day focused in fact on\u00a0HUMANITARIAN AID AND ETHICS<\/strong>.\u00a0Federico<\/strong>\u00a0Marcon<\/strong><\/a>,<\/a>\u00a0Strategic Growth and Business Development Manager at\u00a0Australian Red Cross<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0introduced the students to the\u00a0definitions, concept, history and principles of Humanitarian AID.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The second part of the day was led by\u00a0Marcelo<\/strong>\u00a0Garcia<\/strong>\u00a0Dalla<\/strong>\u00a0Costa<\/strong><\/a>,<\/a>\u00a0Head of Emergency Unit at\u00a0INTERSOS<\/strong><\/a>on \u201cWHAT IS A HUMANITARIAN EMERGENCY?<\/strong>\u00a0The context: major crisis and root causes, affected communities, fleeing people\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the end of the day, the students could hear stories and personal testimony of experts in humanitarian operations by\u00a0Marta Collu<\/strong><\/a>,<\/a>\u00a0Humanitarian Aid Advisor at\u00a0Italian Development Cooperation Agency<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The second day\u00a0<\/sup>was lectured by Federico Marcon focusing on the\u00a0Legal Framework<\/strong>\u00a0of humanitarian emergency on the\u00a0role of Red Cross<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

On the 10th,\u00a0Riccardo<\/strong>\u00a0Sansone<\/strong>,<\/a>\u00a0Head of Humanitarian Emergencies at\u00a0Oxfam Italia<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0focused on\u00a0HUMANITARIAN COORDINATION<\/strong>: coordination mechanisms, Cluster System and General framework of humanitarian action.<\/p>\n

The three days\u00a0ended with\u00a0Marta<\/strong>\u00a0Persiani<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s intervention,<\/a>\u00a0Head of Sub Saharan Africa Unit at\u00a0Save<\/strong>\u00a0the<\/strong>Children<\/strong>\u00a0Italy<\/strong><\/a>,<\/a>\u00a0on why humanitarian aid is needed and what are the challenges and contexts in which it works.<\/p>\n

The workshop has been very interesting and the student participated with enthusiasm and will to start this new path with energy and commitment. A good starting point to begin to know the scenario of this sector!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
