He spent his childhood and early education in the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps. He began his career as a dentist and later made a change and graduated with a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Community Psychology. He then obtained a Master in Public Health-International Health and Development. <\/span><\/p><p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Michael was part of the first group of fellows of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.socialchangeschool.org\/en\/master\/international-master\/master-in-project-management-for-international-development-and-humanitarian-aid\/\"><strong><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Master MIDHA &#8211; in Project Management for International Development and Humanitarian Aid<\/span><\/strong><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><\/a><span lang=\"EN-GB\">at Social Change School. Michael has been an <b>International<\/b>\u00a0<strong>Ford Foundation fellow<\/strong>\u00a0for the commitment he demonstrated while addressing social injustices in Northern Uganda between 2010-2012, and earned the International Compton Foundation fellowship for strong commitment to addressing sexual and reproductive health issues in Sub-Saharan Africa.<\/span><\/p><p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Michael has been working in the development and humanitarian field for over 14 years, has collaborated with international organisations like\u00a0<strong>Save the Children<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>John<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Snow<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Inc<\/strong>\u00a0(JSI),\u00a0<strong>UNFPA<\/strong>. Most of his experience has been in Uganda and\u00a0<strong>South<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Sudan<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Michael is an experienced program management and social behaviour change specialist in both development and emergencies. Known for his strong commitment for social justice, Michael believes in improving the quality of the lives of\u00a0<strong>refugees<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>women<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>children<\/strong>, and people affected by\u00a0<strong>disaster<\/strong>. Sectors of his expertise include emergency management,\u00a0<strong>Gender<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Based<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Violence<\/strong>\u00a0(GBV) in Emergencies,\u00a0<strong>WASH<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Health<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Nutrition<\/strong>, and Communication for Development (C4D) in Emergencies. <br \/>Michael is highly skilled in participatory approaches and program design, is a flexible team player and easily adapts to new environment.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Michael Odong Country and Partnership Manager Uganda Michael Odong was born and raised in Northern\u00a0Uganda.
