{"id":2621,"date":"2018-04-09T09:09:12","date_gmt":"2018-04-09T09:09:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/socialchangeschool.org\/2018\/04\/pmc-students-on-the-field-in-beirut-with-intersos-lebanon\/"},"modified":"2024-03-18T14:11:41","modified_gmt":"2024-03-18T14:11:41","slug":"pmc-students-on-the-field-in-beirut-with-intersos-lebanon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.socialchangeschool.org\/en\/09\/04\/2018\/pmc-students-on-the-field-in-beirut-with-intersos-lebanon\/","title":{"rendered":"PMC students on the field in Beirut with INTERSOS Lebanon"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"2621\" class=\"elementor elementor-2621\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-bb85419 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"bb85419\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-72d2ee9\" data-id=\"72d2ee9\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1a07ae77 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1a07ae77\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Field experience in Lebanon: PMC students working on INTERSOS projects with syrian refugees<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Between the 18<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0and 23<sup>rd<\/sup> of March 2018, the students of the Master <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.socialchangeschool.org\/en\/master\/master-in-project-management-international-cooperation-local-development\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PMC\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Master in Project Management for International Cooperation, Euro-Project Management and Local Development<\/a>\u00a0-June 2017 Edition,\u00a0<\/strong>had their field experience in Beirut -Lebanon, and\u00a0 had the chance to visit the field and see from up close how\u00a0<strong>INTERSOS <\/strong>works with local communities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding: 10px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.socialchangeschool.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/IMG_20180319_124000.jpg\" alt=\"CSMC Doura Shoe Factory \" width=\"335\" height=\"447\" align=\"left\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Following the success of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.socialchangeschool.org\/en\/20\/09\/2017\/master-pmc-travels-to-lebanon-field-experience-with-intersos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">last year&#8217;s\u00a0field experience<\/a>\u00a0in Beirut and Tyre, a new group of PMC fellows\u00a0was\u00a0welcomed by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.intersos.org\/en\/what-we-do\/lebanon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">INTERSOS Lebanon<\/a>\u00a0staff and local stakeholders for a\u00a0unique opportunity to work on local projects and give a real contribution, an added value to the students&#8217; professional and personal growth. The students were under the lead of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.socialchangeschool.org\/en\/faculty\/alessio-di-carlo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alessio Di Carlo<\/a>, PMC Master Co-Director, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.socialchangeschool.org\/en\/faculty\/cinzia-dintino\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cinzia D\u2019Intino<\/a>, Head of Didactics.\u00a0Cinzia actually knows Lebanon and Beirut very well, having worked there in the past.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Aim of the Field Experience was to carry out <strong>evaluation activities of an INTERSOS&#8217; project, working with Syrian refugees in the area of\u00a0Mount Lebanon.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The students were divided into two small groups, the first group was there from 18<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0\u2013 21<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0of March 2018 and the second one from 21<sup>st\u00a0<\/sup>\u2013 23<sup>rd<\/sup>\u00a0of March 2018. Both groups started their Field experience with a introductory session and with an \u201cImpact evaluation mission\u201d presentation, followed by a presentation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unhcr.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>UNHCR<\/strong><\/a> project (detailed of Collective Site Management Coordination legal and youth initiative) in the INTERSOS Beirut office.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The day was then dedicated to data collection: the students had <strong>focus groups with the beneficiaries of the project<\/strong> &#8211; families of syrian refugees- to directly evaluate the impact of the project realised by INTERSOS. They visited various<strong> collective sites<\/strong> &#8211; which is where refugees live and that could\u00a0either be tents or flats in partly abandoned building- where INTERSOS carries out <strong>activities of\u00a0social, legal and psychological support for those living in the sites<\/strong>. Then, the beneficiares responded to the questionnaries prepared by the PMC fellows, to then evaluate the impact of the activities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Group one went to meet with the\u00a0<strong>CSMC Doura Shoe Factory and<\/strong><strong>\u00a0H<\/strong><strong>rajel Tony Saliba<\/strong> on the first day.\u00a0<strong>Youth Group at Aramoun Municipality, CSMC Khalde and CSMC Choueifat Kourdeye<\/strong> on the following day.<\/p>\n<img decoding=\"async\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.socialchangeschool.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/IMG_20180319_141151-e1523014725664.jpg\"  width=\"570\" height=\"326\" \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The second group met different stakeholders for Data Collection activities: <strong>CSMC Bteghrine Mazraa, Bteghrine\u00a0Speoro and Chouf Youth Group<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<img decoding=\"async\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.socialchangeschool.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/youthgroup_pic1.jpg\"  width=\"517\" height=\"388\"\/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the final days, the groups analysed the data collected with the questionnaires and worked on their <strong>Impact Evaluation Report<\/strong>\u00a0draft at SCS Guest House to evaluate the direct impact of INTERSOS project on the beneficiaries. Findings\u00a0were then\u00a0shared with INTERSOS Project Managers in the Beirut Office. Students are now finalising their report and will be presented to INTERSOS this week.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A special thank to all of those who committed and worked hard to\u00a0make\u00a0this unique field experience possible once again, which despite all the difficulities, allowed our fellows to give a real contribution to communities and experience what is is like to work on the field!
