The students of\u00a0HOPE – Master In Humanitarian Operations in Emergencies Managing Projects, People, Administration & Logistic in the field<\/a>,<\/strong> of the Edition started in June 2017, took part at their first workshop \u201cSCENARIO –<\/strong> PARADIGMS, LEGAL FRAMEWORK, STRATEGIC PERSPECTIVES<\/strong>\u201d held on the 8th<\/sup>, 9th<\/sup> and 10th<\/sup> of July at the Polo Didattico in Rome.<\/p>\n

On the first day, the students were introduced to the Career Development<\/a><\/strong>, meeting Silvia Fontana<\/strong>,<\/a> the Head of Career Development Unit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The workshop was lead by professionals from the field of Humanitarian Emergencies, which gave the students the first tools and insights over the sector.<\/p>\n

The first day focused in fact on HUMANITARIAN AID AND ETHICS<\/strong>. Federico<\/strong> Marcon<\/strong><\/a>,<\/a> Strategic Growth and Business Development Manager at Australian Red Cross<\/strong><\/a> introduced the students to the definitions, concept, history and principles of Humanitarian AID.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The second part of the day was led by Marcelo<\/strong> Garcia<\/strong> Dalla<\/strong> Costa<\/strong><\/a>,<\/a> Head of Emergency Unit at INTERSOS<\/strong><\/a> on \u201cWHAT IS A HUMANITARIAN EMERGENCY?<\/strong> The context: major crisis and root causes, affected communities, fleeing people\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the end of the day, the students could hear stories and personal testimony of experts in humanitarian operations by Marta Collu<\/strong><\/a>,<\/a> Humanitarian Aid Advisor at Italian Development Cooperation Agency<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The second day\u00a0<\/sup>was lectured by Federico Marcon focusing on the Legal Framework<\/strong> of humanitarian emergency on the role of Red Cross<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

On the 10th, Riccardo<\/strong> Sansone<\/strong>,<\/a> Head of Humanitarian Emergencies at Oxfam Italia<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0focused on HUMANITARIAN COORDINATION<\/strong>: coordination mechanisms, Cluster System and General framework of humanitarian action.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The three days\u00a0ended with Marta<\/strong> Persiani<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s intervention,<\/a> Head of Sub Saharan Africa Unit at Save<\/strong> the<\/strong> Children<\/strong> Italy<\/strong><\/a>,<\/a> on why humanitarian aid is needed and what are the challenges and contexts in which it works.<\/p>\n
