{"id":2484,"date":"2016-11-10T09:58:17","date_gmt":"2016-11-10T09:58:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/socialchangeschool.org\/2016\/11\/fromthefield-antonella-and-her-projects-in-chad\/"},"modified":"2024-03-18T14:20:48","modified_gmt":"2024-03-18T14:20:48","slug":"fromthefield-antonella-and-her-projects-in-chad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.socialchangeschool.org\/en\/10\/11\/2016\/fromthefield-antonella-and-her-projects-in-chad\/","title":{"rendered":"#FromtheField: Antonella and her projects in Chad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I have been part of <strong>\u201cAmiciad\u201d<\/strong> <strong>Onlus, <\/strong>for the last 6 years, in association with headquarters in Italy that\u00a0<strong>supports projects in the south of Chad<\/strong>, that is located at the border with Central Africa, more precisely in the Koumra Prefecture. During that period, <strong>I alternated my job as a Social Worker with trips to Africa,<\/strong> on behalf of the Association.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is known that <strong>Chad, is the third last poorest country of the world<\/strong>, with major problems related to illness, malnutrition and recently, also political instability. Despite having a\u00a0rich natural resource heritage (diamonds, petroleum, and fertile grounds), <strong>it mainly survives on a subsistence economy.<\/strong>\u00a0Education rates are also very low (data provided by Unicef, 2015).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Promoting schooling and supporting the evolution of agricultural entrepreneurship<\/strong>\u00a0by means of cooperative modalities, was the scope of our work. During that time, my role became more assiduous and important. Fully aware that I did not have the necessary tools needed to adequately perform the mandate, in 2014, I then chose to start the Social Change School\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.socialchangeschool.org\/en\/master\/master-in-project-management-international-cooperation-local-development\/\">Master PMC- in Project Management for International Cooperation and Local\u00a0Development<\/a>, thatI completed in May 2015.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The acquired training on one side, allowed me to challenge\u00a0the Association<\/strong> to redefine its internal organisation by clearing the duties, scopes and operative modalities, and\u00a0<strong>on the other side, it fundamentally changed my approach<\/strong><strong>, <\/strong>on how<strong> to see and foresee as a professional<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This year, after obtaining two important funds and an instituted alliance with local stakeholders, <strong>I followed up on the start-ups and progressive consolidated the of activities of creation, production and commerce of agricultural products in the fields managed by a local cooperative<\/strong> on behalf of the Diocese.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Working on the field requires a lot of flexibility, interpersonal skills and mediation, <\/strong>because the changes and contingencies are continuous.
