How to get ready for a three-day simulation held at the UNHRD base in Brindisi?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The field experience \u201cWorking in Emergencies\u201d is approaching and HOPE master\u2019s students &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.socialchangeschool.org\/en\/master\/master-in-humanitarian-operations-in-emergencies-managing-projects-people-administration-logistic-in-the-field\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Master in Humanitarian Operations in Emergencies Managing Projects, People, Administration &amp; Logistic in the<\/span> field<\/a> (June 2015 Edition) have already started to \u201cjump right into\u201d it during the weekend of the 19<sup>th<\/sup>-21<sup>st\u00a0<\/sup>February, by gaining the <strong>international standards<\/strong> which are adopted by the <strong>humanitarian emergency sector<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pia Cantini, who is the Humanitarian Aid Expert for<strong> Save the Children Italia<\/strong>, gave \u00a0students the opportunity to work on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sphereproject.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>The Sphere Project Handbook<\/strong><\/a><strong>: <\/strong>what it is, how it was conceived, what is its importance today and how operators within the sector use it. It is indeed a project born from the bottom up. <strong>Following the Rwandan Genocide<\/strong>, emergency sector realized that<strong> it was necessary to establish and codify minimum standards of emergency<\/strong>. Therefore, Sphere was born in 1997: today considered as the relevant manual for anyone who works in the humanitarian emergency sector at a worldwide level.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the 3 days in\u00a0class, at Intersos headquarters\u00a0in Rome, the <strong>4 technical sectors<\/strong> of the standard Sphere were\u00a0examined in depth:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>-Food security and nutrition<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>-Health actions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>-Shelter Settlement and non food items<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>-WASH<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A specific focus was\u00a0dedicated to <strong>\u201cEducation in Emergency\u201d<\/strong> topic: what does it mean to provide education during a humanitarian emergency?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After <strong>three days of practice<\/strong> on the main principles, nothing to do but test yourselves on the field!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>UNHRD base in Brindisi<\/strong> and Working in Emergencies workshop, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chsalliance.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CHS Alliance<\/a> support, will be the next challenges for our future humanitarian operators.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Which are the minimum standards that have to be guaranteed in humanitarian emergency?
