{"id":2401,"date":"2015-11-05T08:51:16","date_gmt":"2015-11-05T08:51:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/socialchangeschool.org\/2015\/11\/three-days-on-disaster-management-for-hope-students\/"},"modified":"2024-03-18T14:22:09","modified_gmt":"2024-03-18T14:22:09","slug":"three-days-on-disaster-management-for-hope-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.socialchangeschool.org\/en\/05\/11\/2015\/three-days-on-disaster-management-for-hope-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Three days on Disaster Management for HOPE students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On October 23-25 2015 HOPE Master students &#8211; June 2015 &#8211; Edition participated to their second in-class meeting for an entire week-end.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During these three days, lectures were held by\u00a0<strong>Silva Ferretti<\/strong>, Humanitarian Emergency freelance consultant, and <strong>Tanja Berretta, <\/strong>current coordination manager for <a href=\"https:\/\/plan-international.org\/\"><strong>Plan International<\/strong><\/a> humanitarian actions, which are financed by the <strong>European Commission <\/strong>in the world. Before this experience she worked for 15 years on field.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Students were involved in a project\u00a0dealing with\u00a0<strong>humanitarian emergency<\/strong> by using a <strong>logical framework <\/strong>as a project tool and touching\u00a0<strong>need assessment<\/strong>\u00a0by the hand through video-support materials as well.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The meeting started with a summary on fundamentals of Disaster Management, the topic of the first in-class meeting. Later, an analysis of the professional profiles of humanitarian emergency was made. Finally, more details on PCM were given (how and where it is used).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Case-studies <\/strong>played the leading role during these three days<strong>. <\/strong>Mainly <strong>Pakistan case-study, <\/strong>allowing students to develop a logical framework six months after a natural disaster. For the simulation, students were divided into two groups and two organisations: one for the <strong>Shelter <\/strong>and one for the <strong>Gender<\/strong>. There was also a showing of videos which had been recorded on field, in order to determine need assessment. Other practical tools were <strong>humanitarian intervention\u2019s three actors<\/strong>\u00a0(organisation\u2019s mandate, donor and intervention context),\u00a0<strong>accountability<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>disaster risk management cycle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On October 23-25 2015 HOPE Master students &#8211; June 2015 &#8211; Edition participated to their second in-class meeting for an entire week-end.
